PCCHA Youth Scholarship Information
|
The PCCHA youth scholarship program was started in 1996 for the purpose of raising funds to assist PCCHA youth members in achieving their educational goals through scholarship awards. Since then, over $650,000 has been raised and approximately $430,000 has been awarded to its youth members in the form of scholarships, awards and youth cutting clinics conducted by high ranking Pacific Coast trainers. There have been 63 youth members attend college with assistance from the scholarships awarded from this program.
The funds raised at the PCCHA Youth Auction during the Derby In march 2012, of almost $37,000 will contribute to the overall success of the program in providing opportunities to PCCHA Youth Members by awarding scholarships at the Latigo Canyon Ranch Invitational youth cutting, and to the top ten riders in the the year-end standings. Non-competition grants are also available via the Inez Mabie scholarship program, applications are due by August 1st of each year. These grants are awarded based on the members excellence in academics, involvement in cutting, contribution to community and need for financial assistance to complete their education. In addition to the above, a new program introduced in 2012 is the Kellan Ward Memorial Scholarship program which will award grants for "on the job training", internship programs, etc. for select career choices.
